1. Mold Preparation: The die casting process begins with the preparation of the die or mold. The mold is typically made from steel and consists of two halves, an ejector half and a cover half. The mold is precision machined to create cavities in the shape of the final part.

2. Molten Metal Injection: The molten zinc alloy, typically composed of zinc with small amounts of other elements such as aluminum, copper, or magnesium, is heated to a specific temperature and injected into the mold using a high-pressure casting machine. The molten metal is forced into the mold cavity under high pressure, ensuring it fills all the intricate details of the mold.

3. Cooling and Solidification: After the molten metal is injected, it rapidly cools and solidifies within the mold cavity. Cooling channels within the mold help dissipate heat and facilitate the solidification process. The cooling time can vary depending on the size and complexity of the part.

4. Ejection and Trimming: Once the metal has solidified and the part has reached the desired strength, the mold is opened, and the part is ejected. Excess material or flash around the part is trimmed or removed using various techniques, such as trimming machines or CNC machining.

5. Surface Finishing and Post-Processing: The cast part may undergo additional surface treatments and post-processing steps to achieve the desired surface finish, texture, or coating. These treatments can include polishing, plating, painting, or other surface treatments based on the specific requirements of the application.

Zinc alloy die casting offers several advantages, including:

- High dimensional accuracy and repeatability

- Excellent surface finish and detail reproduction

- Good strength and mechanical properties

- High production efficiency and relatively fast cycle times

- Good corrosion resistance

- Lower melting point compared to other alloys, resulting in lower energy consumption during the casting process
